Consecration Committee

Works with bishop-elect, Presiding Bishop’s office, resigning bishop, ECCT staff, host church, and others as appropriate to plan consecration weekend, service of ordination and consecration, farewell events for resigning bishop, gifts for bishop-elect, etc.

Meet & Greet Subcommittee

The Meet & Greet Subcommittee has concluded its work in this process.

Works with ECCT staff, bishop, and other appropriate individuals or committees to plan and execute the electing convention.

Technology Subcommittee

The Technology Subcommittee has concluded its work in this process.

Assist with technical issues, including Zoom, document sharing, and communications methods, and otherwise eliminate technology as a source of anxiety and tension among the committee.

Education/Communication Subcommittee

The Education/Communication Subcommittee has concluded its work in this process.

Educates the people of the Diocese and the full committee on the role of the bishop, desirable traits and experience, bishop’s role in wider church, challenges and opportunities ECCT is facing. Brings to attention of ECCT and committee relevant issues in the wider church. Communicates to the people of ECCT the progress of the Bishop Transition Committee—where they are at each step, how the people of ECCT can participate.

Discernment/Information-gathering Subcommittee

The Discernment Subcommittee has concluded its work in this process.

Conducts listening sessions to hear what is on the mind of people in ECCT. If a survey is part of the discernment process, creates the survey and analyzes findings. Presents this material to the full Bishop Transition Committee for its consideration and discernment, as well as for inclusion in some form in the Profile.

Profile Subcommittee

The Profile Subcommittee has concluded its work in this process.

Creates the Diocesan Profile, with input from Discernment/Information-gathering Subcommittee. Works with ECCT Communications to design Profile materials. Full Search Committee approves the Profile with approval from the Standing Committee. Incorporate into the Profile application and nomination forms created by Interviews/Screening Subcommittee.

Interviews/Screening Subcommittee

The Interviews Subcommittee has concluded its work in this process.

Develops application and nomination forms. Creates short essay questions as part of nomination/application round. Develops questions for first round video interviews. Arranges for recording of video interviews so all Bishop Transition Committee members can view them. Creates scoring instrument to evaluate applicants. With Discernment/Information-gathering Subcommittee, develops questions/discussion topics for discernment retreat.

Discernment Retreat

The Discernment Retreat Subcommittee has concluded its work in this process.

Plans and oversees a retreat with Candidates: Several days when full Bishop Transition Committee and all Candidates meet for worship, presentations, interviews, deep conversation about vision for ECCT, the role of the suffragan, opportunities, view of the church in the future, etc.
